Manufacturing of polyethylene pipes with largest in Russia diameters, is launched in Kazan  #6 (100), 2011

On May 25th, 2011 in Kazan at the JSC Tehstroi factory for manufacturing polyethylene pipes a ceremonial launch of Russia’s first high-performance production line for large-diameter pipes of 1400 and 1600 mm, was held.

Opening the ceremony, the General Director of Tehstroi Alexei Alexeyev noted: “Launching of the new line will expand the scope of these types of pipes in housing and communal services. Nowadays the company has got production orders for these products for construction projects of sports facilities for Universiade 2013 and Olympics 2014. In Sochi the first Tehstroi-made pipe of 1600 mm will be laid under the Black Sea.”

Having underscored that the event is timed to the upcoming Chemist Day, Alexei Alexeyev offered to establish May 25th as an annual Factory Open Day, so that the customers could be get acquainted with achievements of the company. He thanked everyone who participated in project realization and wished them all further success.

Rainer Anders, the Vice-President of battenfeld-cincinnati Germany GmbH, a company that  delivered new line to Tehstroi, emphasized in his speech a high demand on polyethylene pipes not only in Russia but throughout the world: “Due to this product we can improve the quality of drinking water and consequently – life quality. Hence we hope that the pipes from Tehstroi will be widely asked-for in Russia.”

Natalia Tarkaeva, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Tatarstan, congratulated the company with a meaningful day and wished success in all endeavors. “It is of special importance that a sophisticated tech manufacturing is built at Tehstroi”, she added.

One of the key points of the new line launching ceremony became the opening of the devoted to this event monument. The latter was a half meter pipe with inscription “With this pipe the production of the first Russian pressure polyethylene pipes with 1600 mm diameter, is started”, that was set upon the stone pedestal. Honored guests and company partners left their autographs on the monument.

The main purpose of large-diameter pipes - delivery of drinking water to consumers. The service life of polyethylene pipes is 50 years. Unlike metal, they are not becoming rot, are not overgrown with sediment and not subject to corrosion. Network of such tubes is easier to build up and repair. For installation of large diameter polyethylene pipes the company purchased a special mobile welding machine from Widos GmbH, so the customers can make use of pipelines’ installation facilities that Tehstroi is ready to provide.

“We are executing the commission of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan to increase the processing volume of polymers produced in Tatarstan. The declared goal factor is about 30 percent. Now this factor value is only 12-15 percent, but with the expansion of production and installation of new lines we will carry out the assignment of Rustam Minnikhanov” - summed up Alexei Alexeev.

In a whole, the launch of the new production line at Tehstroi favourably affects the investment climate in the region. The closest company plans include extension of production and increase in staff from 180 to 500 employers. High-tech equipment and products of the company, having no analogues  in Russia,  brought an essential impact into stability of economical image of Tatarstan. The Tehstroi company shows a model of socially responsible business: the control over the environmental safety of manufactured products is a priority position of leadership.

In the throughput capacity of polyethylene pipes for water- and gas supply the JSC Tehstroi takes the second place in Russia. Founded in 2000, the company originally specialized in the sales of piped products of JSC Kazanorgsintez, but in 2007 organized its own production. Four extrusion lines were figured for manufacturing pipes with diameters from 32 to 800 mm, then gradually the necessity emerged to put in additional power. So additional lines were invented that augmented the pipes diameter range up to 20-1600 mm. Today the total production capacity
of company with the newly launched lines became 47 thousand tons per year.

Release of piped products is fulfilled on the modern equipment from battenfeld-cincinnati Germany GmbH. Production technology eliminates the possibility of rejects due to thorough preparation of raw materials, strong ultrasonic control and applying of additional molding equipment.

Now at factory disposal there’s a production and warehouse base with total area of ??3,2 hectare. It is possible to store simultaneously with a strict accordance to GOST up to 5 thousand tons of finished product and 3 thousand tons of raw materials. Current capacities allow to ship up to 500 tons of polyethylene pipes daily.

In 2010 the company produced 21,8 thousand tons (in 2009 – 19.570 tons). Revenue in 2010 totaled 2.197 billion rubles (in 2009 - 1.685 billion rubles).

Product sales within Russia are also being made by the company subsidiaries in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Perm, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk.

The main partners of Tehstroi are the largest world companies like: a manufacturer of polyethylene Kazanorgsintez, a world leader in production of extrusion equipment battenfeld-cdincinnati, manufacturers of piped polyethylene Sabic and Korea Petrochemical Ind. Co., manufacturer of fittings Friatec AG; Spetsstroy Russia, Gazprom.

The key projects of the company, besides above mentioned launch of the two new production lines for pressure polyethylene pipes of 1400 and 1600 mm, are the extension of production capacity to 90 thousand tons per year, arrangement of the first in the Republic of Tatarstan production of corrugated pipes with diameter up to 1200 mm, and production of injection molded fittings.
