Use Oktomat to end "pick and shovel" work  #7-8 (53-54), 2007

HeliosHelios company offers a new method of emptying and conveying of the bulk materials from oktabins and bigbags, various containers and boxes. The new automatic system masters the art of emptying pressed screen waste, foils to be ground and pure glass fibre virtually without any waste. Before, this task could only be performed by means of “pick and shovel work”

The problems of emptying the oktabin and the bigbag using conventional suction pipes are well-known. Frequent disruptions to the flow result in serious stoppages. Besides, an operator had to replace the suction pipe during the emptying process since it would stick to the container’s foil bag. The final third of the emptying process was particularly problematic if there was only a residual amount of material left in the container. So the suction pipe had to be manually conducted in order to purposely empty the bag.
While using the Oktomat emptying station there is no need for the suction pipe. Instead, it uses a stainless steel suction head which is adapted to the size of the material to be conveyed. The immersion depth of the suction head in the bulk material can be precisely regulated via removable counterweights. A vibration device integrated in the suction head ensures that the bulk material is loosened and can continue flowing. At the same time, the foil inlet of the oktabin or the surrounding bigbag side is lifted up and drawn inside via the special bag-lifting device. So when the level decreases, the bulk material continues to flow towards the suction head. The bigbag is lifted from the ground and can be emptied to the end.
The oscillating suction head which rises and falls during the suction process is used for conveying such problematic materials as agglomerates, powders, granulate etc. The correspondent intervals can be programmed via the individual control system.
Besides, the compressed air cannons are mounted on the suction head to ensure that even the most difficult materials are loosened, easily emptied and conveyed off.
Depending on the task at hand, the basic Oktomat model can be configured for eight options.
The system can be used as a single station or even as a double station. The height and width of the portal can be adjusted the container size.
The needed conveying capacity depends on the suction conveying technology used and the kind of material. In practice, this system allows emptying material quantities of between 500 kg/h and 4,000 kg/h.

The system protected from imitators has proven its value in the field of the automatic emptying of raw plastic materials and all types of recycled materials, inorganic powders, activated carbons, etc.
