Honeywell, the US industrial conglomerate, plans to establish an ethylene and propylene plant in Uzbekistan. The new plant is expected to be built in the Bukhara region of the country. Total capacity will be 190,000 tonnes. According to a spokesman for the Uzbek Government, Honewell must submit a preliminary feasibility study for the project by the end of the year. According to estimates, total cost of the project will be €1bn, with the majority of funds coming from bank loans. There is also a possibiliy that part of the funds for the project will be provided by the Uzbek government. In recent years, Uzbekistan has accelerated activities in the field of the national petrochemical industry.
