Rochling Automotive AG & Co. KG will build its third plant in China in Chengdu, molding air duct systems and other parts for Chinese, North American and European automakers.
And Rochling has plans for more growth in China, expecting it will operating five manufacturing centers in the country in the future, according to an April 7 news release. It did not reveal any specific information about where the other sites will go, or when they may open. Controllable air duct systems are a new product for the Chinese market, Rochling noted, and the 13,000-square-meter factory will provide space for expected growth in production. The company, based in Mannheim, Germany, will be able to build on its existing reputation in China for air intake manifolds, said Gerhard Neidinger, managing director of Rochling Automotive Asia. Chengdu has a well-developed infrastructure and also offers a good location to supply customers throughout southwestern China, officials said. It will join existing facilities in Changchun and Suzhou as well as a sales office in Shanghai.
