New PET-granulate factory has been opened in Lithuania

28 October 2005 in port city Klaipeda (Lithuania) Neo Group Factory on manufacture of bottle PET-granulate has been put into operation. Portfolio investor of the project is Austrian investment group Petrochemical Holding AG.
So far only the first line of continuous cycle of capacity 154 thousand tons a year has been launched. In the first half of 2006 production capacity of the factory will increase to 308 thousand tons a year. The third line is planned to be installed at the factory, which will enable to produce over 460 thousand tons of PET-granulate.
Supplier of equipment and technology was chosen to be Zimmer AG (Germany) – one of the world largest engineering companies in the sphere of designing and constructing factories on manufacture of polymer fiber, threads and films.
Company’s products will be sold under NeoPET trademark. So far the factory manufactures granulate of standard characteristics IV: 78, 80 and 82. The next year it is planned to start production of granulates with viscosity 76. Beside it there is technical opportunity to manufacture products with special characteristics.
NeoPET granulate can be applied in production of various kinds of packaging for food industry (bottles for drinks, apron, blister packaging and other thermoformed wares). Granulate has spherical shape (it is the first factory in Europe able to produce products of this kind). Spherical shape of granules enables to pack 22 tons (instead of 20 tons) of product into 20-feet container, which means 10% saving by delivery. Besides, it helps to achieve better parameters of melting process in injection molding machines. Granules are heated evenly from edges to the center, which provides stability of the process.
The factory is situated in coastal area of Klaipeda city, nearby the port, which makes delivery of initial raw-material (terephthalate acid, mono ethylene glycol, isophthalic acid and other) very handy. Location of the factory in Lithuania also enables to organize convenient logistics schemes for ready-made products. Neo Group Company plans to take firm position not only in Easter and Western Europe, but also in the Russian market. The company plans to start supply of products to Russia in 2006.
