Chemical giant Sabic has announced an agreement with Germany’s Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft to research technology for lightweight construction and renewable energy. Sabic says it is especially interested in polymeteric materials and composites that can help lightweighting, especially in the automotive and aerospace. The firm says it also has a “strong interest” in solar energy technology. Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. Its research efforts are geared towards health, security, communication, energy and the environment.
