SolidWorks could cut tool design rework

14/09/2012

Dassault Systèmes has launched SolidWorks Plastics, a software tool that enables users to avoid manufacturing defects during the early stages of plastics part and injection mould design.
The new product runs fully embedded inside of SolidWorks, providing part designers and mould makers an ‘intuitive workflow’ so they can optimise their part and mould designs to ensure ease of manufacturing, according to Dassault Systèmes.
The company said that SolidWorks Plastics enables easy design changes that can ensure that the mould works the first time, reducing or eliminating the need for rework.
The software also comes bundled with an extensive materials library.
SolidWorks Plastics will be offered in two packages – SolidWorks Plastics Professional for part designers, and SolidWorks Plastics Premium for mould designers and makers.
