Switzerland’s Clariant Masterbatches has announced plans to set up a new masterbatch production facility in Konstantynów Łódzki, Poland. The plant will be located on a 16,000m² site in the Łódzka Special Economic Zone (ŁSSE) in the country’s central region of Łódzkie, the company said in a press release. The investment is expected to create more than 90 new jobs in Konstantynów Łódzki. The Swiss group aims to produce as much as 4,000 tonnes of masterbatches per year at the new plant. The value of the latest investment is at least 38m zloty (€9.5m), according to figures released by the manufacturer. Clariant’s local subsidiary Colex operates a production facility in Zgierz, Poland. In September 2011, the Swiss group acquired a 100% stake in the Polish company. Under the plan, in early 2014, Clariant will shift production from Zgierz to the new factory in Konstantynów Łódzki. The Polish plant is to sell its output in Central and Eastern European markets, according to Clariant.
