Ter Hell to distribute Addiflex additive system

Germany-based chemical firm Ter Hell has signed a deal with Sweden’s Add-X Biotech to distribute AddiFlex, an additive system solution that makes standard plastics oxo-biodegradable

AddiFlex can be used with standard packaging plastics such as PE, PP and PVC. The additives divide the long-chain molecules of the polymers, making them accessible to micro-organisms. The surface of the product becomes hydrophilic meaning the plastics degrade into water, carbon dioxide and biomass, says Ter Hell.
The system is suitable for standard packaging products such as carrier bags, films, technical packaging and agricultural foils. It has been approved by the Swiss EMPA and the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute.
