Ferromatik Milacron sells kit to Offenburg University
Germany’s Offenburg University of Applied Science is providing its engineering students with new injection moulding machinery thanks to Ferromatick Milacron. The university month spent two days at Ferromatik’s operations in Malterdingen to perform machine acceptance test earlier this month. The Elecktra 50 machines will enable students to learn how to set up and programme injection moulding machinery, as well as use plastic granules with special additives and fillers. In addition, they will investigate new production technologies, such as the use of rapid prototyping for the production of mould inserts. As a result, students will get the chance to work their way through the entire development of an injection mould, from design, via simulation and optimisation, to the finished end product. Elektra 50 machines are all-electric and use 50-70% less power and water than conventional hydraulic models, according to Ferromatick.
