The Austrian manufacturer of plastic waste recycling machinery, NGR presents new developments at K-2007 in Duesseldorf
Advanced granulation systems
One of the latest fundamental developments of NGR is the hot die (HD) technology used for granulation of certain thermoplastics in tandem with all types of NGE recycling machines, from A: GRAN to X:GRAN (E, A, S, X types).
In hot die technology, the melted plastic strands emerging from the extruded are chopped into granulate by revolving blades, cooled by a water ring and then removed. NGR has been using this technology for many years in its machines with outputs of 100-1,200 kg/h.
Considering the importance of the automatic regulation of blade pressure, the NGR engineers modernized the cutting mechanism. The complex current solution with its individually adjustable blades is replaced by a simple, rigid blade head mounted on a blade shaft, which can be adjusted axially by means of pneumatics. This allows the precise setting of reduced blade pressure by means of a manometer or an optional electronic pressure regulator. So, wear is minimised and individual blade setting is no longer required.
Thus, the new system provides service comfort and speed of the process, as well as guaranteeing extremely long blade life. Blade pressure is automatically kept constant, irrespective of the state of the blades. The defined pressure also remains unaltered when the blades are changed. Due to a special guide, only minimum force is required for manual opening during run-ups and the need for granulation measuring, particularly with higher output machines, has been greatly reduced. As a result, due to a prolongation of servicing intervals and shorter maintenance work times, new NGR HD granulation provides a tangible cut in operator workloads and standstills.
New X:GRAN machines
NGR has extended its product range of equipment for recycling industrial waste and run-up rejects, consisting of thermoplastics in every shape and size (run-up lumps, plates, pipes, carpets, fibres, non-woven materials, strips). On a basis of its X:GRAN 165 (extruder diameter) recycler having an output of up to 1,000 kg/h NGR specialists has developed the more efficient machines X:GRAN185 and 205 having the outputs of up to 2,000 kg/h without additional pre-shredding in a secure and cost-efficient process.
The new machines have the following impressive characteristics:
- Output of up to 2,000 kg/h.
- Energy requirement per kilogram of pellets produced of 0.3 – 0.4 kWh/kg.
- Overall dimensions of approx. 8m x 15m
The advantages of the new X:GRAN models:
- rapid payback: the lack of any type of pre-shredding saves investment, operating and wage costs;
- an automated system that also includes discontinuous feeding of the material;
- material ageing is prevented by slow cutter speeds and immediate extrusion.
The application of X:GRAN185 and 205 – giants for large-scale recycling production - results in obtaining the high-quality granulate!
