Playmobil buys 30 Sumitomo Demag presses

The German maker of Playmobil toys bought 30 Systec injection molding machines from Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plastics Machinery GmbH at K 2010, Sumitomo Demag has announced.

Geobra Brandstätter GmbH & Co. KG ordered the machines for its main factory in Dietenhofen, Germany, which makes 60 percent of Playmobil toys. The Dietenhofen plant molds 7 million parts a day on more than 400 injection presses, according to the Playmobil website.
Geobra Brandstätter has a reputation for making major investments in Playmobil, purchasing new injection molding machines and molds for its toy-making plants in Dietenhofen, the Czech Republic, Malta and Spain.
Playmobil officials have finalized deals before for large numbers of presses at plastics trade shows. One of the biggest block of orders came at the 2005 Fakuma show in Germany — 84 injection presses from three separate machinery suppliers.
